POV: You’re lying in bed, dreaming about art. Your mind drifts over your supplies, your aesthetic, your obsessions—until an idea sparks, and you just have to see where it leads.
That’s exactly what happened the other night. Lately, I’ve been completely absorbed in both charcoal and oil paints—two mediums that feel so different yet equally exciting. Charcoal carries a raw, immediate energy, while oils bring richness and depth.
And then, a thought struck me: What if I combined them?
I couldn’t shake the idea, so I made it happen. I grabbed my supplies, let intuition take the lead, and allowed the two mediums to dance together on the canvas. The result? Something that feels completely alive—the loose, scratchy scribbles of charcoal woven into the juicy, bold movement of oil paint. The contrast between the softness of smudged charcoal, the sharp lines of pencil, and the vibrancy of thick oils is pure magic.
This piece is just the beginning of something new for me. There’s something electric about letting go, experimenting, and seeing where the materials take me. I can’t wait to push this further—to lean even more into this fusion of control and chaos.
Thanks for being on this journey with me—I’m having the best time, and I hope you are too!
